Polini For Race lamellar engine casing for Piaggio Ciao and Si. Polini code: 170.0201.
Polini studies a new lamellar crankcase to house 3 or 4 stud cylinders.
Great news from Polini, which adds the Polini For Race reed valve crankcase for Piaggio Ciao and Si to its already rich catalogue.
As per Polini DNA, the study and production comes with the aim of increasing performance, especially when speaking of lamellar motors, born with limitations given by the original housing.
The intake of the Ciao is very limited and only carburettors of a maximum Ø15 can be fitted: with the new Polini For Race reed valve crankcase it is possible to fit carburettors up to Ø21 with an adequate flow which allows for better performance, with greater grit at the motor.
It is a crankcase made of die-cast aluminium, designed for assembly on Piaggio Si and Ciao. Both models require removal of the pedals. If no modification to the motor housing is required on the Si, on the Ciao it is necessary to slightly enlarge the original frame opening.
The new Polini For Race reed valve crankcase for Piaggio Ciao and Si allows you to house both 3 and 4 stud cylinders, but Polini recommends the use of 4 stud cylinders.
It is possible to mount the new crankcase with the original electronic ignition, but the advice is to use the Polini one and crankshafts with full shoulders.
The reed valve has 4 petals and is made of carbon, while the manifold is made of rubber and fits both Polini CP or Dell'orto PHBG carburettors.
It will soon be possible to combine the crankcase with the new Polini cylinder in cast iron with a diameter of 47 mm.
