The replacement of the control unit is essential to make any type of set up.
Studied and fine-tuned thanks to feedback from the Polini racing department after numerous tests and trials, the upgrade of the Polini control unit allows the choice between 3 different mappings, thus giving the end user the possibility to customize his vehicle even more.
The addition of valve springs inside the package allows the limiter to reach 10,000 engine revolutions with a concrete result in speed and an increase in performance that guarantees a more dynamic and fluid ride.
Depending on the assembly steps of the scooter, it is important to match the specific map developed by Polini.
Map 1:
This is the simplest assembly step, as it is sufficient to remove the original control unit and attach the Polini ECM for Vespa and Liberty 50 4T Euro 5; it is in fact a plug & play electronic control unit that is immediately assembled. The replacement alone allows an increase in the rev limiter with the engine going from 7,500 to 8,100.
With this mapping it is advisable to combine the Polini variator (241.765) and the Polini muffler (190.0079), but it is possible to keep the original piaggio engine.
With this mapping the odometer goes from 45 km / h to 50/53 km / h.
Map 2:
With the second mapping you get to the heart of customization and take your vehicle to a higher level. It is essential to rely on a professional in the sector as you work on the engine. First of all, it is important to know that it is necessary to change the original engine valve springs with the Polini ones (already included in the control unit package), which allow the engine limiter to be brought to 10,000 rpm without valve problems.
Also with this mapping it is advisable to combine the Polini variator (241.765), the Polini muffler (190.0079) and the Polini oversized air filter sleeve (223.0131). But it all works with the original engine too.
With this step you go from 45 km / h to 56/60 km / h.
NB - To replace the springs it is necessary to disassemble the motor: with a small additional step in terms of costs, it is possible to go directly to map 3, with a more performing final result.
Map 3:
At this point, very little is missing for a real Vespa with a sprint soul, with a top speed of 70/75 km / h. If already with map 2 you have already done an important job putting your hand to the motor for mounting the springs, with a small additional step you can configure your vehicle with map 3 and have a complete job at maximum performance.
It is with map 3, in fact, that a clear and distinct difference is perceived.
The basis of this step is the cylinder kit with a diameter of 49 mm which brings the engine to about 80 cc (140.0223) with the extended Polini ratios (202.1424) mandatory for an optimal result.
Also with this mapping it is advisable to combine the Polini variator (241.765), the Polini muffler (190.0079) and the Polini oversized air filter sleeve (223.0131).
